Sermorelin

Sermorelin, also known as GRF 1-29 NH2, is an analog of the endogenous hypothalamic peptide, growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). This synthetic peptide consists of the N-terminal 29 amino acids of human GHRH, which are believed to retain the primary biological activity of the full-length hormone. Its molecular structure includes a free amino group at the N-terminus and an amidated C-terminus, which may contribute to its stability in certain research environments. Historically, research into GHRH and its synthetic analogs began with the isolation and characterization of GHRH from human pancreatic tumors in the early 1980s. Sermorelin was subsequently developed as a truncated, yet biologically active, form for various investigational purposes. Studies have explored its binding affinity to GHRH receptors, particularly those located in the anterior pituitary gland, to understand the mechanisms underlying growth hormone secretion. In laboratory settings, Sermorelin serves as a valuable tool for examining the regulation of growth hormone synthesis and release.
